Before registering for the Erase Indifference Challenge (hereinafter referred to as "Competition") organized by the Auschwitz Pledge Foundation, available at the following addresses — eraseindifference.org and auschwitzpledge.org (hereinafter referred to as "Platform") — and thereby participating in the Competition, you provide us with personal data.

We attach great importance to the protection of your personal data and we care about your privacy. The document you are reading contains information about the principles and purposes of processing your personal data and your rights in connection with it.

Your personal data processed in connection with the use of the Platform and in connection with the Competition, i.e. name, surname and email address, will be processed in order and to the extent required to ensure the proper realization of the Competition. All collected data will be processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons in relation to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter referred to as "GDPR").

Who is the controller of your personal information?

The Controller of your personal data is the Auschwitz Pledge Foundation, with its registered office in Warsaw at Mianowskiego 15/14, 02-044 Warsaw. In all matters related to the processing of your personal data you may contact the Controller at [email protected] (marked "Protection of Personal Data").

Data Protection Officer

The Controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer, who can be contacted in all matters related to the processing of personal data and the exercise of rights by data subjects under the GDPR, at [email protected].

For what purposes, on what basis, and for how long do we process your personal data?

Processing occurs under three legal bases:

  • Legitimate interest — Challenge organization, participant registration, communication, and related activities (Art. 6.1.f GDPR)
  • Legal obligations — financial calculations, reporting, and invoicing (Art. 6.1.c GDPR)
  • Legitimate interest — pursuing damages claims related to Challenge organization (Art. 6.1.f GDPR)

Who can we share your personal information with?

The information you provide in connection with the Erase Indifference Challenge will be available to the Auschwitz Pledge Foundation, as responsible for the Competition, and the Competition Committee of the Erase Indifference Challenge. Your personal data will be transferred outside the European Economic Area for the "Smarter Select" service, provided by a US supplier. An adequate level of data protection is guaranteed in accordance with the concluded agreements and existing regulations, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

What are the sources of your data?

To the extent that you take part in the Erase Indifference Challenge, and thus register and fill out an application form for the Competition, we obtain your data exclusively from you.

What are your rights?

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it rectified, deleted, or to demand the limitation of its processing, as well as to object to the processing, within the scope of Articles 15–22 GDPR. If you wish to modify or delete any of your personal data, you should address your request in writing by email.

Withdrawal of consent for the processing of personal data

You may withdraw your consent at any time, which will not affect the lawfulness of the processing performed on that basis prior to its withdrawal. However, withdrawal of consent will cause the deletion of your account and make it impossible to continue using the functionalities available on the Platform. Right to file a complaint

If processing appears unlawful, you may file a complaint with the supervisory authority: President of the Data Protection Office (Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, Poland.

Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy sets out the rules for the use of cookies by the website available at auschwitzpledge.org and eraseindifference.org (the "Platform"), which is operated by the Auschwitz Pledge Foundation, with its registered office in Warsaw at Mianowskiego 15/14, 02-044 Warsaw, entered into the National Court Register kept by the District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw, XII Commercial Division of the National Court Register under number KRS 0000828023, NIP 7010971401 (the "Administrator").

The Cookie Policy is attached to and forms an integral part of this Privacy Policy. The Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy set out the rules for processing and protecting personal data in connection with the use of the Platform.

Cookie information

Cookies are IT data, in particular text files, that are saved and stored on the Platform user's end device (e.g. computer, smartphone, tablet) and enable subsequent identification of the user after a second visit to the Platform from the device on which they were saved. Cookies usually contain the name of the website from which they originate, the time they are stored on the end device, and a unique number.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies for:

  • Functional purposes, i.e. adjusting Platform content to user preferences and optimizing the use of the Platform, in particular to recognize the Platform user's device and display Platform pages appropriately;
  • The creation of statistics to understand how the Platform is used and to improve its structure and content.

Types of cookies used

Due to the time of use, there are two types of cookies used within the Platform:

  • Session files — temporary files, stored on the user's end device until you log out, leave the website, or turn off the browser
  • Permanent — cookie files stored on the user's end device for the time specified in the cookie's parameters, or until deleted by the user

With regard to purpose, the Platform uses the following types of cookies:

  • Necessary — necessary to ensure proper functioning of the Platform and the services available within it
  • Functional — make it possible to collect information about how the Platform is used, remember settings selected by the user, and personalize the user interface
  • Statistical — make it possible to learn how the Platform is used
  • Advertising — make it possible to provide users with advertising content tailored to their interests, limit the number of advertisements displayed, and assess the effectiveness of advertising activities

Other technology

To ensure convenience of use of the Platform, we use Local Storage (LS) technology, similar in principle to cookies. LS is a separate part of the browser's memory used to store data saved by the Platform. It can be accessed only by a website operating on the same site from which the data was saved, but unlike a cookie, it is not sent by the browser each time the server is accessed. Data in LS is stored long-term by your browser and is not deleted when you close your browser, nor does it have a specific expiration time. LS technology is used for the sole purpose of ensuring the highest level of services available within the Platform and does not enable identifying users.

Cookies

When you use the Platform, cookies may be stored on your terminal device, including cookies of third parties that cooperate with the Administrator.

To the extent that the Platform uses essential cookies, these types of cookies support the management and use of the Platform by enabling basic functions such as site navigation and access to secure areas of the Platform. Without these cookies, the Platform cannot function properly. Your consent is not required for these cookies. The use of other cookies is only possible with your consent. We collect only anonymous statistical data about users to improve the convenience of the service and minimize the nuisance of advertising.

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses cookies, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity for website operators, and provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; please note that doing so may mean you are not able to use the full functionality of this website. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Third-party providers, including Google, may display ads commissioned by the Auschwitz Pledge Foundation on websites that provide their advertising space. These providers, including Google, may use cookies to display ads based on your previous visits to eraseindifference.org and related websites. You may opt out of the use of Google's cookies and disable them on the Google Ads Options page.

Can you refuse to accept cookies?

As a user, you can decide for yourself whether and to what extent cookies are stored on your terminal device. This is made possible by the settings of the internet browser you use.

Most browsers in use allow the storing of cookies by default. However, you can change your browser's cookie settings (in general or for specific categories). Please note that changing your cookie settings may affect some functionality of the Platform.
